A History of Struggle
For generations, the Dalit community in Bangladesh has lived on the margins of society. Often pushed into the lowest-paying jobs and treated as “untouchable,” many Dalit families have been denied the opportunities that others take for granted. The Weight of Exclusion
The challenges the Dalit community faces reach into every part of life:
Education
Too many Dalit children never get the chance to finish school. Poverty keeps them at home, while discrimination makes classrooms unsafe or unwelcoming.
Health
Families often live in crowded areas without clean water or access to medical care. Illnesses that could easily be treated elsewhere linger for years here.
Work
Many adults are left with no option but to take on difficult, low-paying jobs. It keeps families trapped in the same struggles their parents and grandparents faced.
How The Yahweh Mission is Responding
At The Yahweh Mission, we believe every child and every family is created in God’s image and deserves dignity, opportunity, and love. That’s why we are walking alongside the Dalit community to help break down the barriers that hold them back.
We provide education support so children can go to school with books, uniforms, and the encouragement they need to thrive.
We run health and nutrition programs, making sure families receive care and food they would otherwise go without.
We offer skills training, helping young people and parents learn trades that open doors to better jobs.
We create safe spaces of faith and belonging, where Dalit families are welcomed, prayed for, and reminded that they matter.
Stories of Hope and Change
Change is happening. A young girl in Gonali village, once unable to read or write, is now one of the top students in her class and dreams of becoming a teacher. A family who used to worry every day about their next meal now has enough to eat, thanks to our nutrition program. These are just glimpses of the transformation that is possible when love and action come together.
